Saying the Right Thing
HANDLING YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW
What's the point of a press campaign if not to engage a writer's or editor's attention?
Yet once you have it, you need to be ready to be interviewed.
This month we'll share crucial advice on the interview process from members of the press and PR community. They suggest that you:
- Prepare three top messages that you want to get across in the interview.
- Stick to what you know. Don't speculate. Stay positive.
- Assemble crucial information that the reporter will need.
- Give the reporter certain information ahead of time.
- Understand that the press is always under deadline. Respond immediately or miss your chance to be interviewed.
