Shoot Your Own
HOW TO SHOOT YOUR OWN INSTALLATION PHOTOS FOR THE PRESS OR YOUR WEBSITE
My editor at S&VC recently asked if there was some way she could help AV contractors learn to submit better photos with installation stories. A lot of great stories never run because the photography is not of acceptable quality.
My own view is that it's well worth the cost of hiring a photographer to capture the work you do. But, with a little care and some basic equipment, you can shoot good installation photos yourself. This month I'll talk about how to do it. I'll cover:
• Equipment needs: digital cameras, lenses, and more
• Composition basics for AV system photography
• How to get great color from your camera
• Aperture, shutter and flash settings
• One step at a time: start with the basics and build from there
