Link Management
HOW SEARCH ENGINES RANK YOUR WEBSITE
IS HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON WHAT OTHER SITES DO
You've optimized your new website. Your ranking with Google, Yahoo and MSN have improved but are still not where you want them to be.
There's one more piece to the puzzle: the links on other websites that point to your site. We've interviewed two optimization experts on the importance of links and how to go about securing them. Among their suggestions:
- You can start securing links yourself on local search directories, industry specific directories, associations and vendor sites.
- Consider submitting videos to YouTube and comments to online forums. Look at social bookmarking sites such as Delicious.
- Try online press releases via PR Web or similar services.
- Expect to pay for the most valuable links. Consider a link management firm to secure them for you.
